eBay celebrates small businesses with the eBay Business Awards. Each year eBay boosts small businesses, by giving them the opportunity to tell their story. From start-ups established among schoolbooks on the kitchen table, to businesses that have kept pace with surging online demand, there are so many inspiring stories waiting to be told.
And this year is no different. Even in 2020, people all over the country have been bringing their hobbies to life, and turning their passions into business plans. So, join us to celebrate them, and read their stories below.

Meet 2020 eBay for Business Awards Winners
The Lockdown Start-up Award: Sustain furniture
A prime example of a business created from spending more time at home! They originally set up Sustain Furniture as a part time hobby to James's architecture profession and Natalie's wedding planning. Both lovers of low-carbon reclaimed furniture, the business idea was sparked when James decided to make the tables and bar for their wedding in 2018. During lockdown their baby was in hospital recovering from an operation, so to take his mind off things he decided to make something more of the furniture and thanks to eBay the orders started flooding in!
The Innovation Award: Powersheds
Powershed is a modular garden shed, which can fit on a pallet, meaning they can deliver a shed using a national pallet delivery network to anywhere in the UK with next day delivery, or anywhere in Europe within a week! They are the first UK wooden shed manufacturer who can deliver the whole product range throughout Europe.
The Young Upstart: LoftPens
Sam has been collecting fountain pens from a very young age, be it rare or common, vintage or modern. He saw a gap in the market for them and started selling on eBay. Three years on, at the young age of 23, he has over 1,000 different listings of fountain pens, ballpoints, pencils, and calligraphy & art supplies, some of which have a 10,000 sold count. He also sells Loft branded leather pouches, nibs, and ink cartridges. eBay is full of smart young entrepreneurs like Sam.
Be Your Own Boss: Op chic boutique
Patricia established OP clothing in Uganda in 2011. Armed with £80 in savings, immense enthusiasm and a business model she was confident in, OP clothing was born on her mother’s veranda. She creates clothing utilising quality, traditional African fabrics with modern Western designs. OP Boutique has also supported rural women who made crafts and paper beads by selling them as accessories to the clothing at no cost to the women. eBay has enabled Patricia to “ably adjust to the demands of a changing world through providing the opportunity to bring my dreams and ideas into reality.”
